Colonel Jordan lived near Four Mile Tree. At this plantation is one of the oldest tombstones in Virginia with a legible inscription. It was erected to the memory of his wife and reads:
"Here lyeth the Body of Alyce Myles
Daughter of John Myles of Brandon
near Herreford Gent., and late wife
of Mr. George Jordan in Virginia who
departed this life the 7th of January 1650
Reader, her dust is here inclosed who was of
Witt and grace composed
Her life was Vertuous during health But
Highly Glorious in her death."
