He evidently came to California with his relative Charles Edwin King around 1890. He must have settled in New Jerusalem, Ventura County, California. There are stories he might have gone to Washington and died there. There is a William Douglas in the 1920 census for Jewell, Oregon, he appears to be the right age.

Resident of County for 35 Years Dies
W. D. Hall, 81, native of Illinois and resident of Kern County for 35 years, died yesterday at a local hospital. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Will Robinson of Bakersfield and Mrs. A. M. Starkey of Orange. He also is survived by two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Flickinger Chapel. The Rev. Charles H. Hulme will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
