Notes for Joan Burgess

Joan received a legacy from England in 1695 and obtained a certificate from the Bucks County court on December 11,1695, to enable her to receive it. She died in her ninetieth year at the home of her son Roger, the old home plantation in Falls, the title of which had been transferred from James Jr. to hiss father, and by the latter, in 1706 to Roger.

Joan's name also listed as Burges.

Joan's English relatives sent her money with which she purchsed a farm near the river Delaware, two miles north of Yardleyville, She resided with her son ROger at the homestead until her death, at nearly ninety, have survived her husband 26 years. She was an active member of Falls Monthly Meeting, and frequently preferred to walk to meeting when in advanced years.
