From her obituary in the Advertiser Gleam, Guntersville, Alabama, May 31, 2006: "She suffered an aneurism of the brain in 1997 and spent 2 years in a nursing home before she was able to return to her own home in Huntsville. She died of an aneurism of the aorta.
As a young woman she was a telegraph operator in the old Thomason Drugs in Guntersville, where Western Union was located. She worked in Washingtron for a couple of years for the House UnAmerican Activities Committee while Congressman Joe Starnes of Guntersville was a member. Then she worked in Atlanta in the office of Delta Airlines.
