Notes for Mirinda Adaline Ragsdale

She is buried in Nabors Cemetery, Diamond, Marshall County, Alabama.

Both Mirinda and James were born and raised in Greenville District South Carolina. In Early married life they came to Marshall County Alabama and settled at the foot of Brindlee Mountain near Thompson Falls. Property was passed on eventually to JP Johnson a great grandson. Part then was bought in 1974 by Jean Ann Moon a great-great granddaughter

The Ragsdales - a number migrated to North Alabama not long after the War Between the States

1870 Census Warrenton PO, Marshall Co, AL, p 135 lists Marinda 53, (Robert must have died prior to 1870) with William, Rebecca and Nancy still at home

1880 Census Township 8, Range 2, Beat 14, Marshall County, Alabama p 196b lists Marinda as mother-in-law living with John Ragsdale and her daughter Elliott E their two sons Bedford and Robert Lee, William Fry step-son and Permelia Nabours 6, a niece and Addie Simpson 12, a niece

Source Church Register of Centerpoint (currently Diamond Methodist), Warrenton Circuit, North Alabama Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South: Register of Members 1884 lists Marinda Nabours and Sarah Nabours. Later lists Marinda August 18, 1902, died in peace.
